the state pays a portion of your rent depending on your income. for you to apply you have to be 18yrs old. depending on where you live it can take years to get it. you don't have to have kids, be disabled or elderly (as most people say/think) as long as you're low income you qualifyHow does section 8 work n how old u have to be to apply?
I'll give you some advise then I'll tell you how to apply for section 8.
19 years of age, most likely living at home with parents. 1st of all settle your problems with where ever your living right now unless your being abused or being sexual abused. Go to college, get a degree so that you will not have to live on government help.
Now for answer question call your local social service department and and ask where to apply for your local section 8 housing. You must be a least 18 years of age, the waiting list is about 2 to 4 years long. With no dependent children you'll only qualify for a one bdrm. Once the waiting list gets to your name. Make the apt. You'll then receive a voucher for that size of apartment or house, then you have about 60 days in which to find a place that will accept your voucher, if the owner is willing to rent the unit for that contract rent amount, then maybe, and if that place can pass the inspection. There you go. You'll have your contract rent and your TTP, and your utility allowance, only then will you be able to move into your unit
there is soo many things that determine. as far as i know, 18. i live out side d.c. and baltimore so it is very populated and i was quoted a year atleast. preferences are given to single mothers/ fathers. if you are trying to get help from domestic violence then there should be immediate help for shelter in your area. working is good but you have to make between a certain amount. the best way to find out is to type in your states name.gov and look it up on google. surf the website and you will find all the help you should need. good luck!

You have to be over 18 and have to be able to prove you need actual help and last I read the waiting lists are like 2 years for public housing help
You are 19.
Get a job loser.
If working at McDonalds isn't ';good enough for you'; then enjoy living under an overpass.
