It should be 5 years and they should have resided continuously as a lawful permanent resident in the U.S. for at least 5 years prior to filing with no single absence from the United States of more than one year.Read for more info. about the Guide to Naturalization on the link below:

Depends upon who petitioned for the residency. My in laws got there residency quickly because they had their daughter petion for one of them (the mother) and then the mother petitioneded for the father.. Once you are a resident for 2 years then yes, you can apply for citizenship provided you are not accepted as a resident ';temporarily'; (for instance, I have seen a permanent resident card that was good for only two years and then the person had to renew). Most of the time the requested time to become a citizen is 4 years. For more information go to the Immigration Website (www.uscis.gov)..You can Google it though.
no.i believe it is 5 years.marriage based is 3 years.

also they must read, write and understand English to pass the test.and the fee has gone up this year as well(or was it last year?)

Unless through marriage to a U.S. citizen (are they both Legal Permanent Residents?) or in the Active Duty military, no...

An LPR not in either of those statuses, it is usually five years before being eligible for citizenship...
2 more years, and they can apply 3 months before. So it takes 4 years and 9 months with a green card to apply for citizenship (form N-400).
i think its more like 5 years of continuos / discrete presence on us soil.
NO - they need 5 years
