How to apply pressure when severe bleeding? (bleeding to point of death)?

Use a towel or a shirt and place that over the wound, then, with your hand, apply direct pressure over the shirt to the wound. If that doesn't work, lift the extremity (if possible). If that doesn't work, apply pressure to a pressure point to slow the flow of blood to the area.

And, as a last resort, use a tourniquet.

Just a little trivia- they're trying to bring tourniquets into a broader spectrum of uses, rather than a last resort kind of thing. How to apply pressure when severe bleeding? (bleeding to point of death)?
Direct pressure with hand or compression bandage, pressure to nearest pressure point, then tourniquet as last resort. How to apply pressure when severe bleeding? (bleeding to point of death)?
Just get a rag or a shirt or something, put it on the injury and press down on it with your hands.
apply pressure directly on. if that doesn't help it, apply above the wound, but CALL 911! and/or get to an ER
