How long does it take for a permanent resident to apply and become a citizen of the US?

If you have completed 5 years in the US on a Perm. Res. Card. you can apply for Naturalization. If married to a US citizen, 3 years (you have to have been married to the US Citizen for 3 years too).

Process takes less than six months. Depends where you live.

This website will tell you approximate waiting time in your area.

about 7 years...like that? if there were not so many illegals, the wait would probably be minimum to none. How long does it take for a permanent resident to apply and become a citizen of the US?
If you are the spouse of US Citizen and you still live together with your spouse, you can apply in 3 years. There is other waiver too (e.g. you are spouse of US troops, etc). Other wise it will take minimum 5 years before you can apply. You can start to apply 6 month before your fifth year anniversary of the Green Card. Good luck.
I think about 5 years!!
I have NO idea, but you and me look a lot alike...! OMFG, how cool.
I think it's much faster if you marry an American.
a lifetime...probably over 15 years if you want citizenship
